Fiber Project Construction Begins in New Albin

Equipment has arrived and workers are onsite to begin the fiber build in the community of New Albin as this week the project officially gets underway. A common site around town is the Central Cable trucks, flat beds hauling cable spools, and other large equipment used for the project. AcenTek is working with Central Cable, contractors out of Waupun, WI, to complete the fiber build.

Construction has begun north of town, along Hwy 26. Soon service drops will begin to be installed within the city limits. A service drop is what connects the home to the main fiber strand. Near the end of the process, these drops will be connected to the main line to provide fiber-fed services to each home.

  • 602 homes and businesses will be upgraded to fiber.
  • Approximately 120 miles of fiber optic cable will be installed.
  • Construction is estimated to begin in June and to be completed by September of 2018.
  • Customers will begin enjoying the benefits of fiber in the fall of 2018.
  • New Albin residents can expect to see vehicles/workers from AcenTek, CNS and Central Cable throughout the life of the project. CNS is the engineering company. The contractor for the project is Central Cable and all splicing and customer cut-overs will be handled by AcenTek.
