ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS
1. 75% |
Identify, verify location of, and mark AcenTek underground fiber optic and copper utility cables to prevent damage to facilities. Tasks may include prioritizing work by reviewing locate requests to determine travel route and timelines; operate provided equipment to execute locating and marking copper and fiber cables; reading and understanding utility maps, google maps, and web based formats to identify underground assets; communicating daily with other utility contractors and crews, customers, and engineering groups to discuss marking requirements; mark the location of AcenTek fiber and copper assets on roadways, ditches, private property and other locations as required with locating paint and flags; consistently wear safety gear and operate safety equipment provided; drive extensively and get in-and-out of vehicle repeatedly; and walk several miles per day; demonstrate professional communication skills with customers and contractors. Monitored by the Construction Supervisor by direct observation and daily locate completion reports.

Inspecting and repairing underground facilities as needed to help ensure a continued high standard for AcenTek’s underground plant facilities. Tasks may include routine maintenance activities of Outside Plant pedestals; grounding and bonding, demarcation points performing temporary and permanent repairs of small copper cables. Monitored by the Constructions Supervisor through direct inspection and plant sheets returned.

3. 10% |
Perform miscellaneous duties to support the overall needs and goals of the company. Tasks may include training of seasonal locators; assisting other departments with meeting their needs. Monitored by the Construction Supervisor

(Continually looks for new and improved ways of completing the above functions. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor will be performed in order to address unexpected situations or needs that may arise.)
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position includes full responsibility and accountability to the Construction Supervisor for identifying and marking underground fiber optic and copper utility cables by referencing utility prints and using specific locating equipment. Must be flexible to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions, ground terrain and hazards such as ditches, hills, swamps, roadsides, and construction sites; able to succeed under stressful situations and conduct themselves in a professional manner. Must be able to work independently and problem solve with a team. Must demonstrate good time management skills to plan and accomplish assigned work. |
LATITUDE:
Most duties are defined and consistent from day to day. Problem solving is accomplished by performer independently most of the time. Most decisions not effecting other departments can be made independently in accordance with company policy. be made independently. All purchase requests are referred to supervisor. |
IMPACT OF
POSITION: Errors are easily detected and would result in minor clerical expense for correction. Errors usually impact a single department or phase of organizations. SERVICE/INTERACTION: Daily personal and phone contact with customers. Daily contact with customers/contractors. Weekly personal and written contact with all departments to ensure work is done timely and projects managed effectively. |
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS: |

EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or GED |

EXPERIENCE: One or more years’ experience in Telecom Construction/Locating preferred |

PHYSICAL: Frequent demonstration of manual dexterity and visualizing of computer screen throughout the day, required.
Frequent bending, carrying, squatting, and lifting is required. Up to 75lbs.
