ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS
1. 45% |
Perform quality inspections on work currently performed or work that has been recently completed, utilizing established checklists and/or other quality related documents for the purpose of adhering to AcenTek Engineering specifications and practices as well as contractual obligations. Tasks may include verifying and inspecting completed work to ensure compliance with AcenTek installation practices; maintaining documentation of placement, materials used, and adherence to staking sheets assigned by Engineering; work with contractors and Engineering on variances to the original construction procedures to ensure compliance; examining workmanship of finished installations to allow for final approval; ensuring compliance with customer and industry specifications while OSP is being constructed; recording all quantities of materials used per project to ensure accounting practices accurately reflect work completed; ensure all AcenTek safety processes and procedures are followed. Monitored by the Construction Supervisor by direct observation and reports.

Complete assigned projects from within and outside the Construction Department for the purpose of adhering to AcenTek specifications and practices as assigned by Construction Supervisor. Tasks may include install, retire, and complete general maintenance of underground and aerial cables, pedestals, and remote terminals; assisting with emergency installation and splicing of fiber and copper facilities, and temporary installations; removal of materials from large scale FTTH projects; yearly battery maintenance, weeding and spraying. Monitored by the Construction Supervisor by direct observation and reports.

Collaborate with others for the purpose of ensuring efficiency within the department. Tasks may include working with an outside engineering firm to assist with completion of FTTH projects and locating copper and fiber facilities; providing updates to Construction Supervisor on overall safety, quality, and production. Monitored by the Construction Supervisor by direction observation.

Complete miscellaneous projects and issues that consistently arise for the purpose of maintaining the systems and plant for efficiency of AcenTek. Tasks include snow removal, yearly maintenance of manhole systems, and assisting other departments as needed. Monitored by the Construction Supervisor by direct observation.

(Continually looks for new and improved ways of completing the above functions. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor will be performed in order to address unexpected situations or needs that may arise.)
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position includes full responsibility and accountability to the Construction Supervisor to observe and monitor all functions of construction and verify accurate completion of projects. This position requires collaboration and problem solving with a team daily. It also requires informal training/coaching of others. Responsible for negotiation, persuasion, and diplomacy with customers and vendors. |
LATITUDE:
Most duties are assigned then performer plans and arranges tasks in order to complete duties. Problem solving is accomplished in conjunction with supervisor. Most decisions not effecting other departments can be made independently in accordance with company policy. All purchase requests are referred to supervisor. |
IMPACT OF
POSITION: Successful completion of essential job tasks ensures quality of installation and maintenance of the Outside Plant that reflects AcenTek’s standards. Errors usually impact a single department or phase of organization and would result in minor clerical expense for correction. Errors may have a significant adverse effect on external relationships and may result in a moderate monetary effect for the company. Errors could cause improper utilization of labor, material, or equipment and could result in liability. |
CUSTOMER
SERVICE/INTERACTION: Daily personal and phone contact with customers. Daily phone, personal, and some written contact with employees within the company to complete work tasks, scheduling, delegating and prioritizing work schedules, checking status/progress, and obtaining or sharing information. Weekly personal and written contact with all departments to ensure work is done timely and projects managed effectively. Weekly contact with vendors and customers. |
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS: |

EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or GED |

EXPERIENCE: Preferred: 1-year Telecommunications Construction Practices Experience |
