ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS

1. 20%

Oversee Network and Datacenter Engineering for the purpose of supporting the company vision statement and meeting company goals. Tasks may include but are not limited to: write work orders, define scope of projects, create and implement schedules, allocate resources, create and implement budget; monitor and report on project progress; verify project costs are appropriate and within budget; address unexpected costs; design and execute new solutions to improve processes; optimize resources while maintaining quality; communicate with all stakeholders; and utilize various software solutions. Monitored by Chief Operating Officer via weekly updates and work order review.

2. 20%

Oversee engineering of outside plant projects for the purpose of supporting the company vision statement and meeting company goals. Tasks may include but are not limited to: write work orders; review designs, calculations, and specifications; develop cost estimates and prepare bids; problem solve job site issues; prepare outside plant budget; verify project costs are appropriate and within budget; oversee and consult with outside engineering firms; provide appropriate permits/reports to ensure regulatory compliance; ensure compliance with local laws and codes; complete and submit required reports; and utilize department software. Monitored by the Chief Operating Officer via weekly updates and work order review.

3. 20%

Oversee construction of outside plant projects for the purpose of maintaining and deploying OSP assets to support company vision and goals. Tasks may include but are not limited to oversee and collaborate with construction contractors and company supervisors; perform site inspections to ensure standards/requirements are maintained; keep project on schedule; check and modify plans and specifications; solve job site problems; manage materials; utilize department software/equipment; analyze, manage, and mitigate risks; ensure use of proper construction techniques; and monitor and report on project progress. Monitored by the Chief Operating Officer through weekly updates and observation.

4. 15%

Provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical services oversight to supervisors/ employees for the purpose of achieving individual, team, dept., and organizational goals. Tasks may include but are not limited to schedule projects and ensure completion; monitor employee productivity; complete performance evaluations; ensure AcenTek’s policies and procedures and any applicable laws are followed; assist with development/maintenance of processes and procedures; participate in hiring process; monitor workflow and quality of work; train employees; and provide feedback and support to employees. Monitored by the Chief Operating Officer via employee feedback and direct observation

5. 15%

Oversee records tracking for the purpose of meeting regulatory compliance, asset tracking and increased engineering and operations efficiency. Tasks may include but are not limited to accurately recording and maintaining OSP assets; customer plant and service assignments; and network equipment location, addresses, and topology. Monitored by the Chief Operating Officer via direct observation and process review.

6. 10%

Oversee sales engineering for the purpose of promoting revenue growth and expansion of services. Tasks may include but are not limited to support proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals of the team; maintain positive customer relationships with potential and existing clients; and respond to sales with cost and time estimates. Monitored by the Chief Operating Officer via weekly updates and direct observation.

(Continually looks for new and improved ways of completing the above functions. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor will be performed in order to address unexpected situations or needs that may arise.)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position includes full responsibility and accountability to the Chief Technology Officer to provide oversight of and direction to outside plant operations. Requires working with and problem solving with a team. Must be able to delegate to others and motivate them. Position requires formal and informal training of others and completes performance reviews for others. The position has internal and external contact at all organizational levels and must demonstrate negotiation, persuasion, and diplomacy with all.

LATITUDE:

Duties are self-defined with complete flexibility in scheduling and accomplishing responsibilities. Problem solving requires extensive knowledge of industry. Most decisions not effecting other departments can be made independently based on company policy. Position makes purchase decisions within budgetary limits.

IMPACT OF POSITION:

Errors may have significant adverse effect on external relationships. Errors may result in substantial monetary effect and cause improper utilization of labor, material, or equipment. Duties involve the preparation of data which management base important decisions and could affect operating costs.

CUSTOMER SERVICE/INTERACTION:

Daily phone, personal, and email contact with vendors and employees in all departments.

Monthly phone, personal, and email contact with customers.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field

EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of related experience in construction, engineering, or related field

TRAINING:

Ongoing training as required by the company and the industry.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Position works around hazardous equipment in a typical construction site environment in all weather conditions.

OTHER:

Occasional overnight travel
