ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS

1. 40%

Provide technical support and assistance to all company users for the purpose of timely and professional resolution of internal troubles. Tasks may include respond to trouble tickets; identify and troubleshoot computer or peripheral device problems; problem solve internet connection issues; use and apply diagnostic tools; resolve malware and virus issues; coach end users; promote data security; maintain record of troubleshooting activities; maintain knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems and standards; handle any issues related to Windows, Microsoft Office, ethernet cabling, basic multimedia systems and email applications; read and understand technical manuals; operate necessary tools, components, and peripheral accessories; and communicate clearly and professionally with others. Monitored by the I.T. Supervisor via weekly tasks review and direct communication.

 

2. 20%

Create and publish documentation/training materials and procedures to SharePoint for the purpose of increasing employee knowledge and understanding of tools and applications they use. Tasks may include but are not limited to lead instructional classes for new and updated applications and procedures used by AcenTek; maintain/update and create all documentation and training materials related to IT services. Monitored by the I.T. Supervisor through documentation review and SharePoint approvals.

 

3. 15%

Install and maintain AcenTek computer systems and peripheral devices for the purpose of improving employee efficiencies and providing access to company data resources. Tasks may include test operating system; set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers; manage security options and software; link other peripheral equipment; install applications/software as needed; ensure appropriate licensing or subscriptions; prepare workstations; coordinate 3rd party maintenance and repair; coordinate with hardware and software vendors; uninstall; ensure all computers are running approved software and version. Monitored by the I.T. Supervisor through weekly tasks review and direct communication.

 

4. 15%

Update AcenTek computer systems and peripheral devices for the purpose of maintaining system usability and ensuring security. Tasks may include perform updates of applications/software as needed; maintain assigned device inventory for upgrades and software licensing/subscriptions; evaluate and provide suggestions for hardware and software standardization; ensure all computers are operating with the same software after an update; and problem solve technical issues with updates. Monitored by the I.T. Supervisor via direct communication.

 

5. 10%

Plan for short- and long-term equipment needs for the purpose of ensuring business needs are met, enhanced security, and improved performance of hardware. Tasks may include create and maintain a spreadsheet of schedule for replacement/update of equipment; develop a budget for equipment needs; and acquire quotes for equipment needs. Monitored by the I.T. Supervisor through task review and direct communication.

 

(Continually looks for new and improved ways of completing the above functions. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor will be performed in order to address unexpected situations or needs that may arise.)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position includes full responsibility and accountability to the I.T. Datacenter Supervisor to identify, troubleshoot and resolve computer issues. Position is also responsible for clear communication within and across departments, problem solving within a team and independently, and formal and informal training/coaching of others. Position has contact at all organizational levels and must demonstrate persuasion and diplomacy with other departments and vendors.

LATITUDE:

Most duties are assigned then performer plans and arranges tasks to complete duties. Problem solving requires extensive knowledge (industry or technical) and is accomplished by performer independently most of the time. Most decisions not effecting other departments can be made independently. All purchase requests are referred to supervisor.

IMPACT OF POSITION:

Most errors are easily detected and usually affect internal systems only. Errors may result in a moderate monetary effect or liability. Could affect operating costs.

CUSTOMER SERVICE/INTERACTION:

Daily personal and phone contact with customers.

Daily phone, personal, and email contact with employees with all employees. Occasional phone or email contact with vendors.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Associates Degree or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Prefer 2-3 years of I.T. helpdesk or related experience

Prefer 2-3 years of Windows workstation administration experience

Telecommunications experience a plus
