Spring Donations from Casual Day Committee

The Casual Day Committee at AcenTek recently made donations to several non-profits in our serving area.  Our Minnesota office made donations to area ambulance services in five Iowa communities we serve. Clermont, Ossian, Waterville, Harpers Ferry and New Albin EMS each received $600 from AcenTek. When possible, the staff visits the EMS station to hand deliver the donations and express gratitude in person. This spring, visits were made to New Albin and Harpers Ferry. The remaining three departments were spoken to by phone and their donation was mailed to them.

During the visit with the New Albin EMS, Paul Whalen shared that they would use our donation towards their newly purchased ZOLL defibrillator which has a 12-lead monitor. This machine allows the EMS staff to monitor all that is going on with the patient. It is an essential tool for patients having chest pains because it allows ambulance staff to determine the problem and communicate that detail to the hospital. Being aware of the details of the patient’s situation allows the care staff to best prepare when they arrive at the hospital. This helps improve the outcome of the patient simply due to proper preparations. The volunteers on the New Albin Ambulance are undergoing all the necessary training to be able to use this new piece of equipment.

Other EMS departments who received a donation from AcenTek mentioned the ongoing cost of stocking supplies within the ambulance as a potential use for the money. They expressed extreme gratitude for the donation, sharing there is always a need. They also encouraged anyone interested in making a difference by becoming an EMS volunteer, to contact their local ambulance service to get more information.

In Michigan, the AcenTek office in Allendale also made donations this spring. Two local libraries, the Coopersville Area District Library and the Allendale Township Library, each received a $600 donation to help with their needs.

The staff at AcenTek pay to dress casually to work. The collected money is matched by the Board of Directors and then donations are made to non-profit organizations in the AcenTek serving area. AcenTek is proud to support area organizations like these who keep our community strong.
