AcenTek is excited to announce the recent agreement that was reached with the city of Decorah, to provide fiber internet to the residents and businesses within the city limits.
In late September, the city of Decorah announced they will move forward with a $13 million fiber-to-the-home project. Construction on this project will begin in 2026. Once the network is constructed, AcenTek will operate the system, providing gigabit internet to those in the city. The project is expected to be completed by late 2027, however some locations could be hooked up to fiber services as soon as spring 2027.
Ethan Webinger, Chief Operating Officer at AcenTek commented, “Having built a reputation for delivering dependable, community-focused fiber service across rural Minnesota and Iowa, we’re committed to ensuring quality, rapid response, and the personalized support Decorah residents deserve. We are excited to partner with Decorah on this transformative project.”
Decorah has had a board-governed municipal telecommunications utility since 2015. For the past 2 years the board has been working to complete all the necessary steps to bring fiber to Decorah. In September, the city received approval of project financing thanks to Decorah Bank and Trust, Viking State Bank, Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank and First Citizens Bank. AcenTek is extremely excited to expand our serving area to include the city of Decorah. We look forward to providing reliable fiber internet and the unmatched customer care that Decorah businesses and residents deserve.
